Technology Briefing of JINPAT Slip Rings for Welding Robots

Automation Equipment2023-04-13

Automobile manufacture industry is the first to take up production line system and it’s a representative of automated production. In these production lines, there are plenty of edge-cutting devices. Welding robots are the main force to enhance production efficiency and quality. In a welding robot of the fully moving type, there is a 360° rotating joint on the robot base or the robot arms. A slip ring is needed to enable rotary transmission of power, fluid or gas.

As an experienced slip ring manufacturer, JINPAT Electronics has offered many custom slip ring solutions for the automobile production industry, like machine vision system slip rings, slip rings for automated production machines and other industrial purpose slip rings. As for industrial slip ring for the vehicle production industry, slip rings for welding robots are the most popular ones. As a pioneer in developing slip rings for welding robots, JINPAT has tens of mature custom slip ring solutions, most of which are patent-winning models.

JINPAT slip rings for welding robots are built on the hollow shaft slip ring series. To begin with, let’s look at a revised solid shaft slip ring model LPT000-1610-02E2-01A. This slip ring integrates 16 10A power channels, 2 100M Ethernet channels and a single channel pneumatic hydraulic rotary joints. The power unit of this slip ring adopts FLRY-B as wire. This practice is very common in most of JINPAT slip rings for industrial purpose. In terms of the Ethernet channel, multicore shielded cables are chosen with CAT5E connectors. The hydraulic pneumatic rotary joints are in R3/8 with a maximum pressure of 1.1MPa.

Among slip rings with through bore design with a 38.1mm, LPT038-0910-0405FS, LPT038-0810-0205FS and LPT038-1020-0415FS are three competitive slip ring models. They are specially designed slip rings for a certain client. Taking up module design, power unit of various capacity can be flexibly combined. A salient difference from LPT000-1610-02E2-01A is this very slip ring model has a very high working voltage at 380VAC and 500VAC while the latter is at merely 24VAC.

In short, JINPAT slip rings for welding robots can be categorized into two kinds, one is hybrid slip rings that integrate power channel of different capacities; the other is those with module design. The latter kind consist of power unit, signal model and hydraulic/pneumatic module. Given the technology complexity, extra shielding measures are taken to ensure no interference between power channels and signal channels.
